Using Console Commands in The Witcher 3

If you’ve exhausted all your options in The Witcher 3 you can use the console to acquire items you otherwise wouldn’t be able to get, or to cheat in the game. Or just to have fun with what you can do with it. Here’s how to use the console, and a few console commands to mess around with.

If you want a full run-down of Witcher 3 console commands, go here, or here, or read the Steam guide.

Activating the Witcher 3 console:

The console is deactivated by default in The Witcher 3.

To activate the console go into your local game files, to bin > Config > Base, and open the file general.ini in Notepad (or another text editor).

Add “DBGConsoleOn=true” (without the quotation marks) to the [General] line of the config file, then save and close it. Launch the game normally.

In-game press @ to bring up the console.

Warning: you can crash the game with the console so type in commands at your own risk. Note that you can copy and paste text into the console to make entry easier.
